Fashion Week autumn 2010: Dolce & Gabbana

By all accounts, the Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2010 runway show was extremely moving – it began with a video devoted to the technical skill that goes in to producing the brand’s garments as well as ended with an enormous herd of models taking the runway in all way of black blazers. I can’t believe of more fitting bookends to a fashion show in these uncertain times – celebrating craftsmanship as well as classics seems to be just the note to hit right now.

But what we’re right here to talk about is handbags, as well as those struck a similar chord. two fundamental shapes made an appearance: first, the miss Sicily shape to which the brand has strapped their wagon for the past few season. It came in all way of structures – leather, python, knit, lace, fur. Those materials were commonly combined into textural puzzles, however the feeling was mainly a bit as well similar to last season’s offerings to get me excited. What caught me by surprise, however, was the second shape – small coin purse/iPhone situation hybrids used across the body on long chains. They seemed supremely functional as well as current, while still being exquisitely detailed as well as luxurious. contemporary performance is something I desire I’d seen a bit more of during recent collections.
