Drum roll please… well how can you tell? You look in any way of our stunning pictures and wonder what’s the difference?
I get this question all the time. Is that leather soft, is it as long lasting as pebbled leather? What actually is the difference? Is it high quality leather?
When I first started using leather to make my handbags, I really didn’t know what the difference was. but I learned really swiftly that not all leather is created equal. I don’t indicate that in a good or bad way, but at the end of the day, it really depends on you relating to the sturdiness and your preferences. There are so lots of different types of leather, but today I wanted to talk about one of my new favorites and one of our softest.
It’s called pull-up leather. What? Exactly! a lot of of us have heard of pebble grain or top grain leather but what does pull-up mean? The official reason is because when this leather is stretched or pulled, the color migrates and becomes lighter in the pulled areas. The reason I love it, is because it is dyed to create deep, lively color, and the waxy finish allows for wrinkles and marks to be an inherent part of the finish, giving it a rugged distressed look, but uses a incredibly supple feel. extra amazing and low maintenance part, is that scratch marks can be easily rubbed out with the natural oils on your fingers or thumb.

So I was curious, and I did a little googling and found this amazing video showing the process He walks you through all the different steps involved in the finishing of Pull-up leather. How the oils are mixed in with the paraffin waxes and how it is applied to the surface of the hide with a roller. It’s a fun short watch.
